Free online track and field games for your phone

Beat Pete’s Track & Field games are free, button-bashing athletics events you play with your thumbs: tap the left and right pads to run, jump at the board in the long jump, and pace your stamina in the 400m and 1500m. The 100m sprint is the classic.

Every event has a ladder of ten computer characters, from a gentle beginner up to Pete. Beat one to unlock the next. Pete always finishes just short of the world record, so beating him is a proper achievement, and nothing in the games is faster than the real records.

Phones and tablets only. Keys are far quicker than thumbs, so the games are played on touch screens to keep every record fair.

Beat Pete’s Track & Field games are free, button-bashing athletics events you play with your thumbs on a phone or tablet: sprints, hurdles, long-distance races, jumps, throws, swimming, cycling and weightlifting.

Every event has a ladder of ten computer characters, from a beginner up to Pete, who always finishes just short of the world record. Beat one to unlock the next, then chase the fastest time or the longest mark on the leaderboard.

The games are for touch screens only, because a keyboard is far quicker than thumbs and that would make the records unfair. You can customise your kit and your track, and challenge friends to the same race.

Track & Field questions

Are the Track & Field games free?

Yes. They are free to play in your phone’s browser, with nothing to download.

Can I play on a computer?

Track & Field is for phones and tablets only. Keys are much quicker than thumbs, so keyboard and mouse play is switched off to keep every record fair.

How do the events work?

Most races are button-bashing: tap the left and right pads alternately to run, swim or pedal, and use the middle pad for the action, such as a jump or a breath. Field events add timing: you set your speed and then time your take-off or release.

What is Pete’s time?

Pete finishes just short of the world record in every event, so beating him is a real achievement. Nothing in the games is faster than the world record.

Can I play against friends?

Yes. Challenge up to five friends to the same event: you all race the same field at the same moment and the best time or mark wins.
