Chess on Beat Pete
Beat Pete’s chess is free to play in your browser or on your phone, with no download. It uses the full rules of chess, including castling, en passant and promotion, so what you learn here carries over to any board.
Start against Trevor, who is just learning, and climb a ladder of ten computer opponents to Pete, the hardest level. Beat a level to unlock the next, and your wins count on the chess leaderboard.
Every game can be reviewed for free. The review rates each move (brilliant, good, mistake or blunder), gives you an accuracy score, picks out the key moments and draws the best move as an arrow, so you can see exactly where a game turned.
